Redhill's first gold medal winners
31 Jan 2012
Redhill saw its first gold medal winners of 2012 at the Belfry Shopping Centre last week, when replicas of the real thing were awarded to representatives of three local charities who were the beneficiaries of the offering taken up at the Olympic-themed Carols at the Belfry event in December, organised by Churches Together in Redhill and District. The three charities: Redhill Shopmobility, Reigate & Redhill YMCA, and Redhill Live at Home Scheme, received £300 each.
The traditional Carol service was interspersed with readings of the Nativity story and has become a local tradition, held every year since 1994.
